Ingredients
  

  • 1 inch fresh ginger root
  • 1/2 fresh lemon
  • 2 cups water hot or cold

Instructions
 

  • Wash and thinly slice the fresh ginger (no need to peel if thoroughly cleaned).
  • Bring 2 cups of water to a boil, then let it cool slightly.
  • Add the ginger slices to the water and steep for 5–10 minutes.
  • Squeeze the juice from 1/2 lemon into the water.
  • Strain out the ginger slices (optional) and serve warm or cold.
  • (Optional) Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days.

Notes

Make a large batch and store in the fridge for 2–3 days.
Ginger flavor intensifies with time.
Try variations like adding cucumber, mint, raw honey, or cayenne.
