- 2 tbsp fresh ginger finely minced
- 1.5 tsp premium turmeric powder or 2 tbsp fresh grated turmeric
- 3/4 tsp Ceylon cinnamon or 1 inch cinnamon stick
- 1.5 cups spring water
- 2 tsp raw local honey
- 1/3 tsp fresh ground black pepper
- Juice from 1/2 medium lemon
- 1 tsp virgin coconut oil
Heat spring water to 170°F (or boil and let cool for 5 mins).
Place sencha tea in teapot or mug with strainer. Pour in water and steep for 3 minutes. Remove leaves.
In a small bowl, mix ginger, turmeric, cinnamon, and black pepper.
Add spice mix to tea. Stir for 30 seconds. Cover and infuse for 4 minutes.
Strain mixture. Add honey, lemon juice, and coconut oil. Stir gently.
Pour into ceramic cup and drink warm.
For diabetic-friendly version: use monk fruit sweetener instead of honey.
For low-caffeine: substitute green tea with white tea or chamomile.
Omit black pepper and reduce ginger for spice sensitivity.
Best served warm. Can be reheated once.
Can be stored for up to 2 days in the fridge and reheated gently.
