- 1 cup warm water not boiling
- Juice from 1/2 lemon
- 1 tbsp raw honey or Manuka if available
- 1 tsp fresh ginger grated
- 2 garlic cloves finely minced
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
- A tiny pinch of cayenne pepper
- 1/4 tsp apple cider vinegar
Optional extras:
- Fresh mint leaves
- 1 cinnamon stick
- Elderberry syrup
Heat water to a tea temperature – warm but not boiling.
Add ginger and garlic first; let steep 2-3 minutes.
Add lemon juice, honey, turmeric, cayenne (and optional extras).
Stir well.
Add apple cider vinegar last.
Drink while still warm.
Optional: Make a larger batch and store in a thermos for daily use.
For sore throat: Double honey, extra ginger.
For congestion: Add more cayenne + mint.
For prevention: Use half quantities and drink daily.
Best on an empty stomach.
Can be made ahead and refrigerated up to 3 days.
