Equipment

  • Mug or heat-safe cup
  • Spoon
  • Knife and grater
  • Thermos (optional)

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup warm water not boiling
  • Juice from 1/2 lemon
  • 1 tbsp raw honey or Manuka if available
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger grated
  • 2 garlic cloves finely minced
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric
  • A tiny pinch of cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp apple cider vinegar

Optional extras:

  • Fresh mint leaves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • Elderberry syrup

Instructions
 

  • Heat water to a tea temperature – warm but not boiling.
  • Add ginger and garlic first; let steep 2-3 minutes.
  • Add lemon juice, honey, turmeric, cayenne (and optional extras).
  • Stir well.
  • Add apple cider vinegar last.
  • Drink while still warm.
  • Optional: Make a larger batch and store in a thermos for daily use.

Notes

For sore throat: Double honey, extra ginger.
For congestion: Add more cayenne + mint.
For prevention: Use half quantities and drink daily.
Best on an empty stomach.
Can be made ahead and refrigerated up to 3 days.
