  • 2 cups orzo pasta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For cooking
  • 1 pound chicken sausage (sliced)
  • 2 cups broccoli florets Fresh
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced) Enhances flavor
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese For creaminess
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (chopped) For garnish

Cooking

  • Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  • Add the sliced chicken sausage and cook for 5–7 minutes until crispy and browned.
  • Toss in the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute.
  • Stir in the broccoli and let it cook for 2–3 minutes until it starts to soften.
  • Add orzo, chicken broth, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  • Bring to a boil, then lower the heat and let it simmer, covered, for 10–12 minutes.
  • Stir occasionally until the orzo is tender and liquid is mostly absorbed.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the Parmesan cheese until melted.
  • Finish with fresh parsley and serve hot.

Notes

For a creamier texture, add a splash of heavy cream before serving. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3–4 days.
