Cheddar Ham Protein Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 cups self -rising flour
  • 30 grams unflavored whey protein isolate
  • 1 cup non -fat plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup finely diced smoked ham
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (204°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the self-rising flour, unflavored protein powder, and garlic powder.
  • Fold in the shredded cheddar cheese and diced ham until evenly distributed throughout the dry ingredients.
  • Add the Greek yogurt to the center of the bowl and stir with a spatula until a shaggy dough forms.
  • Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently pat it down to a 1-inch thickness (do not overwork the dough).
  • Using a 2.5-inch biscuit cutter, cut out 8 rounds and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the internal temperature reaches approximately 200°F.
  • Remove from the oven and immediately brush the tops with melted butter.
