Cutting board
- 3 cups filtered water
- 2 organic green tea bags
- 2- inch piece fresh ginger sliced into thin coins
- 1 Ceylon cinnamon stick or ¾ tsp ground
- Juice of ½ fresh lemon
(Optional additions):
- 1 tsp raw honey
- Pinch cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
Boil water in a medium saucepan with 3 cups of filtered water.
Prepare the ginger by slicing a 2-inch piece into thin coins.
Once the water boils, add ginger and cinnamon stick. Simmer uncovered for 8–10 minutes.
Remove the pan from heat. Add green tea bags, cover, and steep for 4 minutes.
Remove tea bags and strain the tea through a fine mesh sieve to remove solids.
Add fresh lemon juice from half a lemon. Stir and taste.
Adjust flavor with optional honey or more lemon if needed.
Serve warm in a large mug. Let cool slightly before sipping.
Do not over-steep green tea to avoid bitterness.
Store leftover tea in the fridge up to 48 hours.
Always add lemon fresh after reheating to preserve flavor.
Optional twists: add turmeric, peppermint, or substitute rooibos for a caffeine-free version.
Ideal first thing in the morning before breakfast.
